Stenden South Africa is a leading private higher education institution located in Port Alfred, a coastal town. The university offers full degree programs in Hospitality Management and Disaster Management. As an international branch campus of NHL Stenden in the Netherlands, Stenden has a diverse academic history that dates back over 100 years.

In its efforts to provide students with a true international education experience, Stenden launched a pioneering concept known as the ‘Grand Tour’ in the early 2000s. This innovative approach re-invented the old European custom of encouraging youngsters to travel and explore the world before settling on a career. By incorporating this concept into the different degree courses it offers and establishing international campus sites in countries like Thailand, Indonesia, and South Africa, Stenden is able to offer a unique learning experience to its students. 

MyPond Hotel – Creating Leaders in Hospitality

MyPond Hotel, located near Stenden South Africa, provides Hospitality Management students with real-world experience. This is essential for preparing them for their future careers. Students can learn various aspects of hotel operations, including front office/reception, restaurant, and rooms. Working with experienced staff, they learn how to handle real-world situations. This includes managing reservations, handling complaints, and teamwork. As an assistant to the General Manager, students gain insights into leadership and management. They can develop essential skills like problem-solving and communication through this experience.

The university offers a three year Bachelor of Commerce Degree in Hospitality Management and is situated in Port Alfred. 

Students will experience practical learning experience in their 1st, 2nd and 3rd year of study, by working at My Pond Hotel.

You may, therefore, expect great service by our young trainees who aim to please!

Basic training includes :

  • working in housekeeping,
  • front desk / reception,
  • and in our in-house restaurant, Lily.
