DESCRIBE  YOUR BACKGROUND

I am a seasoned all-rounder, self starter and Leadership mentor.  Currently General Manager for a 4 star hotel which is also a training hotel for the students of the Stenden University. I attended a Hotelkeeping and Tourism school from 13 years of age. Biggest achievement throughout my journey was being able to be a part of the pre-opening teams for 6 hotels. Greatest achievement is creating other industry future leaders through my mentorship.

WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT PORT ALFRED I love Port Alfred, it is surely the jewel of the Sunshine Coast. There’s something special about the location and what it has to offer. MyPond Hotel is special in that it carries the greatest responsibility of producing the future leaders in hospitality, this is what fascinates me the most. I love the challenges and the responsibilities that comes with the service delivery and the constant training and mentorship. We nurture talent and that on its own is enough to love MyPond Hotel.

SUMMARISE YOUR PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE I started to nurture my passion for the industry at an early age and that has shaped my future in this industry. Upon completion of my Hospitality qualification, I started spending time in every department, to ensure that I understand the fundamentals of the effectiveness of each component of hotel operations. I started as a hostess, fresh from hotel school. Within 3 weeks I got a position in Front Office as a reservationist, that is where I learned the financial aspect of reservations department. This led to reception, where I only spent a month to move on to Complex Group Co Ordinator at Sun International Sun City. I then moved up to Front Office Duty manager and later Assistannt FOM for the pre-opening of the Boardwalk Hotel. Then FOM for 2 years before moving to Hotel Manager at Peermont. Soon after that, another pre-opening for a Radisson Park Inn property. Moving on to Deputy GM at Tsogo Sun and now currently General Manager for Stenden South Africa, MyPond Hotel.

MyPond Hotel allows me to live my dream of expressing my training and mentorship passion that dominates my goals strategy. It allows me to do what I love (Hotel Management), and what I am now passionate about (training & development), and mentorship. My goals, vision and strategy fits the business model like a glove. ”
